Block walls
Retaining walls that hold a level.
Block and sandstone retaining walls, steps in the wall, and a concrete path or landing at the toe. Used on sloping house blocks and on subdivision boundaries.
What gets built
- Cut block or sandstone retaining
- Steps built into the wall
- Concrete path or landing at the base
- Drainage and backfill behind the wall
- Walls at the top of a driveway coming up from the kerb
The base is excavated and compacted before the first course. A wall on loose fill moves.

Fencing after the ground is right
Post-and-rail, wire and gates on rural blocks, and yards once the pad is poured. Fencing follows the earthworks. It is not a separate landscaping service.
